Work has finally started on putting up the stone on the office buildings and building the new retaining wall.
The crew worked first on getting all of the concrete blocks done for the retaining wall. We asked for the retaining wall to follow the grade of the yard, for the most part. Unfortunately for them, this resulted in a lot of blocks needing to be measured and cut.
The concrete footer had been poured earlier in the week. They also poured the concrete for the two steps.
In extreme cases, this meant that the concrete blocks had to be cut down to only an inch or two in height.
After the block was laid, the crew switched over to put the bottom half of the stone on the main office walls.
Stone was laid on the bottom half of both offices and allowed to set before starting the stone in the upper half.
The mortar appears dark because it is wet but will eventually dry to a light gray color.
The stone was laid to cover the track of the DropShade which, essentially, completely conceals the track.
Space was left under the windows for another last minute change I came up with: flagstone ledges.
